Siegel freshman Nicole Gardner finished 34th with a time of 18:09, the fastest by any female runner in Tennessee this season, at the Foot Locker South Region seeded race Saturday in Charlotte, N.C.

She finished fourth among freshmen.
“Nicole has the mentality of an explorer,” Siegel cross country Coach Phil Young said. “She welcomes new challenges and doesn’t allow limits to prevent her from improving. This mindset is what allowed her to do so well in such a challenging race as a freshman.”
Cali Roper of Willis (Texas) won the race with a 17:02. The top 10 finishers advance to the national finals in San Diego.
