Siegel pitcher Austin Coley has signed a national letter of intent to play baseball at Belmont.
“Austin is a great fit for Belmont University both on and off the field,” Jarvis said. “He will be a great fit for our program as he is an excellent kid as well as an excellent student. He has a very projectable frame, and with added strength and maturity, will certainly be a factor on our pitching staff.”
Coley (6-foot-3, 170 pounds) is right-handed and the number one starter for Siegel of District 7-AAA, one of the top districts in the state of Tennessee. He is 3-1 on the mound this season with a 1.81 ERA, 33 strikeouts and only four walks in 27 innings pitched. Coley plays for Coach Craig Reavis at Siegel (18-5).
“Austin throws three pitches for strikes, and we expect him to make an impact with the Bruins in the future,” Jarvis added. “He may be a little bit of a late bloomer, but has really blossomed this spring in one of the better programs in the state of Tennessee under Coach Reavis. Craig has done a great job of developing pitchers over the years, and we’re excited to have one of his products on our squad.”
